Actor, host, and author, Mario Lopez has a follow-up to his best-selling book "Extra Lean." This time around, Mario focuses on a fat-burning plan for the whole family instead of an individual. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Mario has loved cereal since he was a child and continues to eat unsweetened cereal with oatmeal or whole grains as a healthy carbohydrate with nonfat milk. I'm a vegetarian and I'm always looking for recipes for meals and snacks that are high in protein. Mario has a list of sources for lean protein such as shrimp, eggs, nonfat yogurt, beans and more.
The five-week meal plan focuses on 50% carbs, 25% protein, and 25% fat per day, eating meals frequent enough to continuously boost the metabolism and satisfy the stomach at the same time. An active teenager who plays sports has a difference in nutritional needs than that of an adult who sits in front of a computer all day.

EXTRA LEAN FACT: A Research Study of children ages eight to thirteen found that children who ate whole grains were 54 percent less likely to have asthma- possibly because whole grains are packed with antioxidants that may keep airways from becoming inflamed.
